At Kevin Bass DMD Cosmetic and Family Dentistry in Lansdale, we use a variety of processes to restore damaged teeth. Most dental patients are familiar with fillings. Traditional fillings are also called ‘direct restorations’ because they are applied to the tooth and then shaped and polished in one visit.
Another type of filling is called an ‘indirect restoration’ and is created in a dental lab. There are two types: inlays and onlays.
When a tooth needs more extensive dental restoration, a crown is frequently used. At Kevin Bass DMD Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, we create strong, natural-looking crowns from a variety of materials.
What if the tooth is damaged beyond repair? There are a number of functional replacements for missing teeth. Dentures are not the only option.
Whether the damage is caused by decay, injury, bite problems, or natural wear, we can address the issue at Kevin Bass DMD Cosmetic and Family Dentistry in Lansdale. Services include restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Schedule an appointment today.

At Kevin Bass DMD Cosmetic and Family Dentistry in Lansdale PA, the dental health of our patients is our top priority every single day. We restore decayed teeth to create smiles that are both healthy and beautiful.
Decay is the most common dental problem and the second most common disease in the nation (number one is the common cold). If you have one or more teeth with decay, it’s time to take care of them.
Cavities occur when bacteria produce acid that destroys the enamel of a tooth. Anyone’s mouth is filled with bacteria; only certain types lead to tooth decay. It lives in plaque, that sticky film that is contantly forming on the surface of teeth.
Someone once compared plaque to the slime that can form in the bottom of a swimming pool. Yuk. It’s a good comparison, though. Plaque is what makes regular brushing and flossing so critical.
In spite of everyone’s best efforts at brushing, cavities still form sometimes. When that happens we need to fill them. At Kevin Bass DMD, we use white-colored fillings that blend seamlessly with your teeth.
At Kevin Bass DMD Cosmetic and Family Dentistry in Lansdale PA, the dental health of each patient is our number one concern. We offer general and family dentistry, and a full range of cosmetic dentistry services. Schedule an appointment today.

It has now been more than 150 years since the first dental license was issued to Sir John Tomes. Pennsylvania dental patients should be grateful for the advances made in dentistry during the past century and a half.
There was a time when blacksmiths and wig makers all across America (including in the Lansdale, Pennsylvania area) would also extract teeth with forceps to make a little extra money. Anyone could call themselves a dentist. Often these untrained people broke the jaws of the person they were trying to help. Ouch!
Fast forward to present-day, and we at Kevin Bass DMD Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, celebrate with the greater Lansdale, Pennsylvania dental community and marvel at the many advances made in the history of dentistry, particularly in the area of cosmetic dentistry.

Sometimes life gets busy and it gets hard to keep up with all the necessary appointments. Totally understandable, but our team at Kevin Bass DMD Cosmetic and Family Dentistry in the Lansdale, Pennsylvania area cannot emphasize enough the importance of making time to get to the dentist. Regular dental check ups are important for so many reason. You should have a regular dental visit at least every 6 months or as recommended by your dentist. Here are a handful of reasons to schedule a dental cleaning today!
1. Protect Your Gums
Cavities can damage a tooth until it is beyond saving. Gum disease that leads to bone loss is just as detrimental. Gum disease is caused by a buildup of plaque that creates pockets of infection between the gums and tooth roots. This leads to periodontitis, gum recession, and eventual bone loss. A professional cleaning removes the plaque before it can cause the gums to loosen.
2. Prevent Cavities
Even if you brush and floss your teeth morning and night, plaque can build up. We have many patients who are vigilant brushers but are surprised when our hygienist finds plaque on their teeth.
3. Check for Oral Cancer
The Oral Cancer Foundation relates this sobering news: oral cancer claims one life approximately every hour—that’s 48,250 deaths a year. During a check up, your dentist can check for early signs that could save your life.
4. Oral Health and Overall Health Go Hand in Hand
Your mouth is not a separate entity from the rest of the body, but many men and women treat it that way. Some get regular preventative services for physical conditions but forget their teeth. At Kevin Bass DMD Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, we’ve often wondered about this persistent disconnect. Did you know that there is compelling evidence to suggest that the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes increases with poor oral health? Besides, your lifestyle is significantly impacted when you have tooth pain, tooth loss, gum disease, or dentures.
5. It May Be Free
Most dental insurance plans cover semiannual dental cleanings, so make your investment pay off for you. Even if you don’t have dental insurance, cleanings are one of the most reasonably priced ways to maintain optimal oral health.
At Kevin Bass DMD Cosmetic and Family Dentistry in the Lansdale, Pennsylvania area we believe in anxiety-free dentistry. Call 215-368-1424 today to schedule a professional dental cleaning .

Flossing is a bit of a chore. It takes a little extra time, and if you haven’t flossed in a while, it can even be painful.
It’s no wonder why our team at Kevin Bass DMD Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, your premier Lansdale, PA area dentist office, are constantly reminding our patients to “brush and floss!”
We cannot emphasize enough that flossing is critical. We recommend that you floss every time you brush your teeth. At the very least, we encourage you to floss every day before you go to bed. Once a day is your minimum, and nighttime is a good time to floss.
Quite frankly, you’ll never hear anyone on our team say, “don’t worry about the flossing.” It just isn’t going to happen and mainly for two vital reasons:
1. Bad Breath
Bad breath is something we all worry about. It’s part of how present ourselves to others and we are all aware of how that can influence our relationships.
When speaking with others in close quarters, or greet a partner, bad breath is often on our minds. We worry about how bad breath could affect first impressions.
It makes sense, then, that bad breath would be one of the things you might worry about.
Flossing is a great way to help you avoid bad breath.
Flossing helps prohibit plaque buildup between your teeth. It also helps flush out pockets of bacteria. Together, plaque and bacteria can create bad breath.
Floss every day to reduce your chances of being caught with bad breath.
2. Cavities
When bacteria is allowed to concentrate on your teeth, cavities can occur. Plaque buildup is a concentration of bacteria. When plaque is allowed to remain between your teeth it gives bacteria a chance to destroy enamel and damage your teeth. Cavities are damage to your teeth caused by bacteria.
Flossing gets between your teeth where your brush can’t get and cleans away~> plaque buildup. It also loosens pockets of bacteria that can be removed with a quick rinse.
Flossing will help you keep plaque and bacteria from developing between your teeth.
